Veterinarians CARE (Companion Animals Remembered) Program

About the Program

The Veterinarians CARE (Companion Animals Remembered) Program provides veterinarians a unique way to commemorate their clients’ animals after they have passed away. By making a memorial gift to Cummings School in honor of your clients’ pets, you will offer an expression of sympathy that truly demonstrates your commitment to your clients, their pets— and the advancement of veterinary research, education, and care.

Cummings School invites you to join the many veterinary hospitals and clinics nationwide that already contribute through the Veterinarians CARE Program.

Upon receipt of your donation, Cummings School will mail a personalized letter to your client, telling him or her of your generosity. This letter will acknowledge that the school has received a charitable gift from you, given in memory of your client’s pet.

Enhancing Client Relationships

Many clients write back to us with the warmest of compliments for their veterinarians. They take comfort in knowing that a gift in their pet’s name will help Cummings School prepare the next generation of veterinarians to use compassion, curiosity, and evidence-based medicine to advance the health and wellness of one’s pets.

The Veterinarians CARE Program does not solicit your clients or enter their names into our database, unless they independently give to Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University or seek hospital services from the school for their pets.

Upon receipt of your donation, Cummings School will mail a personalized letter to your client, telling him or her of your generosity. This letter will acknowledge that the school has received a charitable gift from you, given in memory of your client’s pet.

Testimonial from a CARE Participant

I find it is often very comforting to my clients after the loss of a beloved pet for them to be recognized and honored. Receiving a letter on Cummings’ stationery with the pet’s name tells a person that they are not alone in feeling this way; it shows that others recognize the sincerity and depth of their emotion. The Veterinarians CARE donation can provide emotional support to the client, financial and public relations benefit to Cummings School, and a positive exposure of my practice.
